I know who has the Maltese Lugnut

So, Katie Scarlett O'Beagle (Speedbeagle) you thought that you could pass yourself as a Stewart fan and no one would be the wiser, that you are truly a Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus fan. You had us all fooled for awhile, but there is no denying it now. For the past couple years, this Maltese Lugnut has supposedly bounced back and forth. From this one to that one.

Lost, then found. Missing and then not missing. To now no one knows who has it. Well, after last night's race at Concord, N.C. It is pretty evident to this blogger, that You are an enemy spy in the Tony Stewart camp. Pretty sneaky, using Kristen Klvalus as your cover. This way, the lugnut could be passed back and forth to the 48 team without anyone being the wiser.

Pretty cleaver, but now your secret has been exposed. So come clean, it is the only way to save face.

Okay, I know this is not true. Speedbeagle and Katie are truly hardcore Smoke fans. And it would never cross her mind to be a Jimmie Johnson fan. I think she probably dislikes him as much as I do.

But the real question is what will it take to stop the 48 team from winning 7 straight championships? They do just enough to get them into the chase. And once the chase is in play, they pullout all the stops and blow through the rest of the field?

NASCAR is going to need to do some changes to this chase format, or Johnson and Knaus will win 7 straight. And by the time they get to that point, many NASCAR fans will have abandoned NASCAR for other sporting events or other things. I am one of those fans who is at that point.

Right now, I don't plan on walking away from NASCAR. But right now my plan is to just watch the first 26 races next year, crown the champ and go do something else. And leave the final 10 races to the 48 team.

Now don't get me wrong. I love my NASCAR and I will watch it. But the final 10 races will not be on my top 5 list of things to do next year. So for this year, my NASCAR champ will be Tony Stewart. And the chase champ will be the 48 team.

What is wrong with Dale Jr.?

This seems to be the question that is on everyone's mind? It is simple. Jr. is frustrated. Jr. thought that once he left the shadow of DEI that he would be able to win championships and races. Jr. dreamed of victory lane celebrations and championships. But none of that has come true for him.

Many in Jr. Nation, has convinced themselves that Teresa Earnhardt is the reason Jr. is not doing well. Well, let's face it, she is not the reason.

Jr. is not performing to his ability because he is not comfortable with the situation he finds himself in. Jr. is like alot of us. When we get frustrated, we lash out. And when we lash out, we can't think straight. And then once we calm down, we regret the lashout, but the problem remains.

Jr. has stated that he "needs a dictator" for a crew chief. Jr. appears to me not to be comfortable with calling the shots. He makes me think that he just wants to tell the crew chief what the car is doing and the crew chief is going to say "Okay Dale this is what we are going to do, Period." No, what if we do this? Jr. has enough to think about in the car. He doesn't want to be the one who calls the shot on pit road.

Eury Jr. and Lance McGrew (Thanks Gunny) just don't seem to be the strong force that can hold Jr. to his potential. Seems like Tony Eury Sr. was the only one so far. Now don't get me wrong. I am not saying that Lance McGrew or Eury Jr. are not good crew chiefs. Just that they don't seem to be the right fit for Jr.

So what is the solution? Not sure. But if it is another crew chief, maybe Hendrick needs to find someone with Pop Eury's character to put with Jr. or nothing will change.

And one more suggestion, maybe Jr. needs to lighten his outside load of responsibilities (sponsor demands) and maybe that will make him relax a bit more and be more in the right frame of mind to work with a crew chief.

  1. I feel for Junyer, maybe because of the "stepmother factor" not that she has anything to do with his ability to drive or lack of but because of the way he lost his power in DEI and now has to answer to someone besides his Dad. I think Jimmie is cheating, once a cheater always a cheater, and I think Hendrick isn't sharing equally amongst the drivers.

  2. Hey!!!!! The ONLY reason that Chad and Jimmie are winning is because my Chad voodoo dog has lost its mojo. The only bad thing happening to the 48 team is that Chad is losing his hair again.

Mommy thinks that maybe there was too much mojo on the duck and not enough on the Chad dog; however, that should hopefully change this week as the duck is being retired. It has done its job for this season, but don't worry. The duck will be back in full force next season.

  3. That's why I didn't watch the race last night, because it was going to be the JJ and Chad Show. (Besides, I had a date last night that went well.) Hence, no GBU this week. Depending on what JJ does at M'ville, maybe no GBU next week, either. The #48 team is so far ahead of everyone else. An owner like Hendrick, with unlimited resources from GM, can afford to keep the very best engineers and pay them top dollar.

As far as Junior, perhaps a reunion with Eury Sr. might be the kick in the butt that he needs.

  4. Beverly, I am not really sure Jr. actually ever had any real power at DEI, other than being the son of Dale Sr., and possibly holding some stock. And he most likely still has that stock. So what power he might have had, I would think as long as he still holds his stock, he still has the same power.

As much as I want to jump on the bandwagon that Jimmie and Chad are cheating, until it is proven, it is really a mute point. Because unless NASCAR, catches them, it doesn't matter. And let's face it, NASCAR is only going to do so much to any team under the Hendrick banner.

  5. Hey, I got Katie out of hiding!!! I figured this would bring a comment from you. lol

Like I said, You dislike the 48 as much as I do. It was just after I heard that Jimmie won at Charlotte, the thought came, Jimmie has the Maltese Lugnut. So I had to go with it. lol

You tell your momma to pull out her devices to stop the 48 dead cold the rest of the season. I think Smoke is going to need all the luck that can be thrown his way.

  6. jon hope that the date went well for you. I only watched an hour of the race. Gunny got me caught up on what happened Sunday.

Don't blame you about the GBU, because from the way Gunny described the race, the only good was Johnson and the rest was pretty ugly.

  7. Perhaps Biffel can take out Johnson like he threatened to do to Joey Logano. It is strange taht Johnson latelty has been burning up the track and the rest of the HMS team have had some bad luck.

Perhaps NASCAR needs to check the # 48 more closely during the inspections.I get the feeling that is not being done. How can one car be so dominant and the others can't get close considering the cars are so close in set ups.

  8. photogr I wish NASCAR would take a closer look at the 48. Because I agree with you. It is just so hard to believe that he is doing so well now. But then again, guess CK is just pushing the envelope to the limit in the grey areas. Yeah, right. And I am a purple people eater. lol

  9. TSFAN,

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE JR. AND LANCE TIED TOGETHER AT THE ANKLE OVE THE WINTER AND SEE IF THAT DOESN'T IMPROVE THE RACING. JR. HAS SAID THAT HE LIKES LANCE AND THE WAY HE WORKS, MAYBE IT IS JUST A LITTLE BIT OF A TIME THING. ALSO I AGREE WITH BEV, I THINK IT WAS, WHO SAID ALL THINGS ARE NOT BEING SHARED.

EXCELLENT POST AND SUPER INFO BUT THEN IT ALWAYS IS WHEN YOU WRITE IT.

  10. Gunny I am humbled by your comments.

Lance and Jr. tied to each other's ankle for the offseason....hmmm....interesting, sounds like away to get to really get to know what Jr. likes and dislikes in a car.

Whether or not everything is being shared is really not important. Because every team is going to share somethings, but not every little detail. Even with teammates. What is more important is that a team works on what best suits their driver. Because in the end not everyone can use the same setup exactly and be successful.

Because each has their own driving style that works best for them.

  11. I will be doing a post on Dale Jr to open the door on things good and bad.lol.. One bad race and Jimmie falls big time. I do think it will be bad for NASCAR if the 48 wins another. Like you it gets boaring. Cheers2You
